01
Match the traffic plan to the asset and excavation method
Utility work can move between investigation, excavation, installation, reinstatement and maintenance stages. The TMP should show how the work area, access and road-user controls change with that sequence.
- Avoid using one generic arrangement for sites with different road or access conditions.
- Keep excavation and reinstatement details consistent with the CAR information.
02
Utility site data to send
Provide the asset location, work method, excavation details, programme, worksite dimensions, vehicle movements, drawings and photos. Identify properties, footpaths, cycle facilities and other services affected.
- Separate planned maintenance from reactive work where the timing and scope differ.
- List multiple sites individually when their traffic environments are not equivalent.
03
Scope the repeatable parts and the site-specific parts
Send the programme or first site batch for a review of the TMP, staging and CAR support needed. Reusable work information can then be separated from location-specific controls.
- Confirm which sites have fixed dates and which remain provisional.
- Include reviewer comments or method changes as soon as they arise.
