Build the TMP around how the crew will work

The plan should connect the activity sequence with plant access, work vehicles, frontage impacts and the road users passing the site. That reduces gaps between the contractor's method and the submitted controls.

  • Describe the work activity and each stage in plain operational terms.
  • Identify driveway, property, pedestrian and cyclist access that must remain workable.
02

Contractor brief for a usable first draft

Provide the location, start and finish dates, working hours, methodology, plant and vehicle movements, drawings or mark-ups, and any existing CAR or WAP reference.

  • Add recent site photos where the road layout or frontage is not clear on a plan.
  • Forward any RCA or TMC comments already received rather than paraphrasing them.
03

Resolve missing details before submission

A scope check can identify whether the TMP, TMD, CAR or WAP information needs to be prepared together and what remains for the contractor to confirm.

  • Send the brief before the intended work window leaves no room for review or amendment.
  • Flag likely method or programme changes early so version control remains clear.
