01
Treat the closure as a network and access change
A full road closure affects more than the work area. The plan should address the detour, closure points, properties and side roads, people walking or cycling, emergency access and the method for reopening.
- Describe who still requires access within the closure and when.
- Keep stakeholder impacts and the proposed traffic route visible in the submission information.
02
Closure and detour information to provide
Send the closure extent, dates and times, reason for closure, detour options, affected access points, route or site plans and relevant photos.
- Identify any staged, intermittent or after-hours reopening arrangement.
- Include the event or construction programme that drives the closure window.
03
Review feasibility before fixing the programme
A scope check can identify gaps in the detour, access or reopening information and show what must be aligned across the TMP, drawings and any corridor application.
- Send available authority correspondence with the initial brief.
- Confirm whether on-site establishment and traffic management are also required.
