What applies to South Waikato District road-corridor work?
Your TMP Designer can prepare the South Waikato TMP and site layout, support the corridor application and mobilise an approved field setup when the job is ready. Council remains responsible for local-road permission; NZTA controls state highways, and all travel, equipment and personnel are confirmed against the specific work programme.
02
CAR, TMP and lay plan are different pieces
The CAR requests corridor access, the TMP manages changed road use, and the lay plan shows where the work and assets sit. We prepare these as a coordinated package while keeping their purposes clear.
- A CAR is required for work altering the road-reserve surface or placing pipes, poles, cabinets or structures in it.
- A TMP is required when normal pedestrian or vehicle movement changes.
03
Forestry traffic and SH1 interfaces
South Waikato sites can sit beside fast through-traffic and heavy forestry movements. The plan tests equipment placement, tapers, turning paths and queue capacity before the crew arrives.
- Tokoroa and Tirau sit beside nationally significant SH1 movements, while local streets remain council controlled.
- Forestry freight and long heavy vehicles require turning, queue and lane-width checks.
04
Urban and rural delivery scoped separately
A Tokoroa footpath job and a remote rural shoulder closure have different travel, inspection and backup needs. Our quotation confirms the field resources that can actually support the permitted programme.
- We can supply the TMP and site lay plan information needed for the local CAR.
- We can establish and supervise the accepted controls when crew and travel are confirmed.
05
On-site records through to uplift
The approved documents remain available on site, the layout is monitored and changes are controlled. Once the activity is complete, equipment is removed and the contractor continues with any required reinstatement and closure records.
- The council's 2026/27 fees distinguish urban and rural permits and include up to two inspections.
- SH1 maintenance or closures can shift traffic onto local routes, so live network status matters.

South Waikato District activities we can plan and deliver
South Waikato utility and carriageway works
Planning and approved field controls for excavation, maintenance and utility activity, shaped by this local constraint: Tokoroa and Tirau sit beside nationally significant SH1 movements, while local streets remain council controlled.
Tokoroa and Putaruru frontage activity
TMP and corridor support for crossings, deliveries, cranes, scaffolding or frontage work. The delivery method also accounts for forestry freight and long heavy vehicles require turning, queue and lane-width checks.
South Waikato closures and community events
Risk-based planning for events, closures and temporary changes to pedestrian, cyclist or vehicle movement, including rural permits may involve longer mobilisation, remote staging and fewer suitable detours.

South Waikato District Council authorises its local road corridor and NZTA authorises state highways. Current forms, fees, conditions, inspections and work dates need job-specific confirmation before setup; YourTMP prepares the submission and can operate the approved layout only.

South Waikato District TMP and establishment questions
Does every South Waikato CAR need a lay plan?
The council's current CAR page says a site lay plan must accompany all corridor access requests.
When is a TMP required?
When the activity alters normal pedestrian or vehicle movement in the road reserve.
Are urban and rural fees the same?
No. The 2026/27 council schedule lists separate urban and rural single-occurrence permit charges.
Can YourTMP cover a remote rural site?
Possibly; travel time, crew, equipment, communications and the approved hours must be confirmed before commitment.
