The road, work method, dates, traffic environment and responsible authority determine the actual planning and operational response.

How do Council permission and AT approval fit together?

For Auckland Council events, filming or public-place activities, YourTMP can prepare the road-corridor traffic management material and deliver the approved site setup. Council may permit or facilitate the activity, while Auckland Transport separately approves access to its road corridor. Field resourcing, travel and site dates remain subject to confirmation.

02

Council permission and road-corridor approval are separate

An Auckland Council permit or facilitation process does not automatically authorise an activity in the road corridor. Auckland Transport separately controls local roads, footpaths, berms and relevant transport assets.

We map the two processes and prepare the traffic-management information needed for the AT application while the event or filming organiser works through the applicable Council requirements.

  • Council activity permit or facilitation
  • AT CAR, TMP and WAP
  • Closure, parking and transport impacts
  • Clear responsibility for each approval
03

Build enough time into the event programme

AT directs event road-corridor applications through myWorksites and publishes an eight-week deadline for all event applications. Film lead times vary depending on whether the activity needs parking changes, a closure or stop-go control.

Lodgement is not approval. The event or filming activity must wait until AT confirms approval and the WAP is at the required ready-to-start status.

  • Event applications lodged eight weeks ahead
  • Film deadlines matched to the proposed road effect
  • Council facilitator included where AT requires
  • Completion notified after the activity
04

Establish and manage the approved event footprint

Our field service can install the approved signs, delineation, access controls and other traffic-management devices, then monitor the site throughout the authorised operating period.

If conditions or the activity change, the response must remain within the approval or be escalated through the relevant authority process before the layout is materially altered.

  • Approved setup and pre-opening checks
  • Pedestrian, vehicle and property access management
  • Monitoring during the authorised period
  • Orderly uplift and completion reporting
05

Account for Auckland transport and public-place impacts

Event and filming sites may affect buses, parking controls, businesses, residents, high pedestrian flows or prominent transport assets such as Te Komititanga.

The site plan should reflect those real interfaces, not merely show a generic row of signs and cones.

  • Public-transport continuity
  • Accessible pedestrian routes
  • Business and resident access
  • Parking or closure approvals where required

Auckland Council activity and road-approval questions

Is an Auckland Council event permit enough to close a road?

No. The activity permission and AT road-corridor approval are separate, and a formal closure or parking process may also apply.

How early must an event road application be submitted?

AT publishes an eight-week deadline for all event road-corridor applications.

Can YourTMP provide the physical event traffic management?

Yes, once the required approvals are issued and the crew, equipment and operating dates are confirmed.

Who approves a material change on the day?

The change must be allowed by the approved documents or referred through the WAP, TMP and authority process.
